About Bangladesh

Overview

Bangladesh has almost half as many people as the United States, all crammed into a space about the size of the state of Wisconsin and more than a third of them are younger than 14 or barely teenagers. And half of all Bangladeshis are 21 years old or younger! It is a hard life for the average child. But while most Bangladeshis want their children to go to school and live a better life, child labor is the more common way of life. But children in Bangladesh want the same thing that children everywhere want - a safe and secure opportunity to experience childhood and learn skills that will lead to useful lives as adults.
